EXPORT OF SUITCASES, HATS AND UMBRELLAS INCREASED IN FIRST HALF
Export of suitcases, hats and umbrellas increased in first half
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s export of suitcases, hats and umbrellas increased by 21.74 per cent over the same period last year to US$ 91.62 million.
In June only, the country earned $ 169.71 million from export of suitcases, hats, and umbrellas, down by 9.34 per cent over the previous month, but the figure was up by 22.34 per cent over the same month of 2012.
The country’s main export markets of suitcases, hats and umbrellas include the U.S; Japan; Germany; Belgium; South Korea; the Netherlands; France and China. Besides, several other markets such as Hong Kong; the U.A.E; and Switzerland are considered the country’s potential markets.
The U.S was leading in the list of the country’s main export markets of suitcases, hats and umbrellas in the first six months of this year with $ 391.62 million, accounted for 44.77 per cent of the total and increased by 29.75 per cent over the same period last year. In June only, the country exported $ 74.78 million worth of suitcases, hats and umbrellas to the U.S, down by 13.88 per cent over the previous month and up by 27.15 per cent over the same month of last year.
It was followed by Japan with $ 111.575 million, accounted for 12.76 per cent of the total and increased by 30.05 per cent year – on – year; and Germany with $ 66.16 million, accounted for 7.56 per cent of the total and rose by 27.12 per cent.
In the first half of this year, the export of suitcases, hats and umbrellas to almost all markets saw growth. Especially the export to Czech increased sharply by 58.28 per cent year – on – year to $ 2.67 million. The export to Thailand increased by 50.67 per cent; to Sweden – by 49.7 per cent; to Italy – by 47.26 per cent; to Malaysia – by 45.7 per cent; and to Hong Kong – by 45.27 per cent. However, the export of those products to Brazil and France fell sharply by 55.47 per cent and 24.1 per cent, respectively over the same period of 2012.
In June, the export of suitcases, hats and umbrellas to Poland increased by 75.33 per cent over the previous month, but to Singapore and Russia decreased by 50.07 per cent and 46.44 per cent, respectively month – on – month.
This year, the country is expected to earn over $ 1.7 billion from export of suitcases, hats and umbrellas.
