Japan Leather and Leather goods industry results in Nov.,

Production of leather shoes is still decreasing.
Production of tanning is 147,000 sheets (+5.5% year to year basis). Production of leather shoes is 1,240,000 pairs (-5.2% year to year basis). Production of rubber and plastic footwear is 1,524,000 pairs (+1.8% year to year basis).
Import amount is increasing significantly for each item.
Raw hide and skin / hide and leather – import: JPY2.66billion (+8.5% year to year basis) / export: JPY2.36billion (+18.8% year to year basis)
Bags, handbags and other leather goods – import: JPY52.42billion (+11.6% year to year basis) / export: JPY0.46billion (+43.5% year to year basis)
Footwear – import: JPY42.92billion (+22.0% year to year basis) / export: 0.34billion (-9.9% year to year basis)

Consumption for footwear proceeded well due to better tendency.
Consumption for footwear per household: JPY 1,645 (+2.6% year to year basis)
Consumption for bags and handbags per household: JPY 891 (+3.5% year to year basis)
